What started as a childhood hobby in the 1980s has grown into a shared venture that bridges generations. We combine timeless passion with fresh perspective. After rediscovering my old collection, I found not only a renewed appreciation for the hobby—but also a meaningful opportunity to share it with my son and build something together.

I bring decades of sales and marketing experience. Jake adds digital expertise and entrepreneurial energy. Together, we’re building something unique in the sports card industry. His influence keeps growing across social media. He connects with collectors, buys, sells, and reinvests with purpose. The momentum is real—and it’s just getting started.

Our Card Story

“Junk-Wax Era”

Like so many, my journey as a sports card collector began in the early 1980s, a time when collecting was driven by pure passion—opening wax packs, trading with friends, and chasing the thrill of discovering hidden gems. 

The best part of collecting, though, wasn’t just the thrill of the hunt—it was the joy of carefully sliding each card into those 9-pocket plastic sheets, page by page, building out binders filled with my favorite players.

 

Sports Heroes Growing Up

There was something magical about watching those pages come to life with the faces of legends like Mattingly, Jordan, Griffey Jr., Ripken Jr., Aikman, and Emmitt.  Each card told a story, and each binder was a time capsule of my childhood.

Among them all, my most treasured card has always been the 1984 Donruss Don Mattingly rookie—a gift from my parents that Christmas, and still one of the most meaningful presents I’ve ever received.  That single card ignited a lifelong love for collecting and remains a symbol of everything I value about this hobby: nostalgia, connection, and pure passion.

 

Priorities

Like many collectors, life, family and career eventually took priority and collecting cards became secondary.  Although I would buy and open a few packs each year, my original collection sat dormant for years—until the COVID-19 pandemic offered a rare window to dust it off.  I was able to reconnect with the hobby I once loved.

 

A New Generation

What began as a way to reconnect with my old collection quickly turned into something bigger.  Together, we’ve created a shared passion between father and son. With a love for sports and a natural digital edge, my son immersed himself in the hobby, learning to research, evaluate, and engage with collectors around the world.

I drew on my business experience to help him build a solid foundation for growth. Teaching Jake how to structure operations, analyze trends, and develop a purpose-driven brand is rewarding.

Today, he’s a trusted voice in the sports card community, combining business fundamentals with digital fluency to inspire and educate the next generation of collectors.

 

Beyond Just Collecting

Jake regularly engages with collectors, industry veterans, and hobby enthusiasts each month.  This allows him to grow a loyal following across social media through live sales, trades, and brand collaborations. His strategic approach to buying, selling, and reinvesting has elevated his collection into a respected and profitable venture.

While excelling in school and sports, he still finds time to attend major card shows and industry events. Jake’s consistent hustle allows him to continue expand his network and deepen his knowledge.

He combines generational passion with entrepreneurial drive. With the right mindset and mentorship, he’s turning a hobby into something truly meaningful.

 

40 Years in the Making—and Just Getting Started

It’s been an incredible journey—transforming a legacy hobby through a new generation and merging old-school knowledge with next-gen digital savvy. Watching Jake apply modern tools to a decades-old passion has been both inspiring and a natural continuation of what I began over 40 years ago.

The future is bright, and I’m eager to see how far we can grow together, as a father and son team, with the support of my wife and our family.

As the Co-founder of ANJ Sports Cards, along with my son, Jake, I bring decades of experience in executive-level sales, marketing, and brand-building into the world of modern collecting—fusing nostalgia with strategy.

Driven by both market insight and generational storytelling, Jake and I built ANJ to educate and empower a new wave of collectors. Whether it’s grading vintage gems, identifying breakout prospects, or curating high-value investments, we lead with integrity, curiosity, and a deep respect for the hobby.

At just 16, Jake has already built a national network of high-end clients and resellers stretching from Dallas to Beverly Hills, New York to Miami. As ANJ Sports Cards’ Chief Card Flipper, he’s earned a reputation for spotting undervalued cards, negotiating strategic flips, and delivering value to some of the most respected names in the game.

Jake specializes in autographed football cards, with a focus on Dallas Cowboys short prints, parallels, and low-numbered rarities. He regularly attends major shows and industry events—including The National in Cleveland and Chicago—where he builds relationships, buys, sells, and reinvests with unmatched focus and hustle.
